šš April is Autism Awareness Month šš
š§© It was in 1970Ā that the Autism Society first launched National Autism Awareness MonthĀ to raise awareness and advocate for individuals on the autism spectrum. Since then, national and international efforts have continued to growāoffering resources, education, and support to families and communities.
š This year marks the 13th yearĀ since April was designated World Autism Awareness Month, a global initiative to promote inclusion and acceptance.

š” Celebrate Differences with the Autism Society of America
The Autism Society of America, the nationās oldest grassroots autism organization, is proud to lead National Autism Awareness Month 2020Ā with its #CelebrateDifferencesĀ campaign.
š§ This campaign aims to:
Build awareness of autism signs and symptoms
Share real-life experiences of individuals with autism
Promote acceptance, inclusion, and understanding
Provide resources and education to support families and communities
š Autism by the Numbers
In 2010, autism affected 1 in 125 children
By 2020, that number rose to 1 in 59As the prevalence increases, so does the need for information, advocacy, and inclusive opportunities.
š§¾ Through referrals, events, resources, and community partnerships, the Autism Society is working to create a more inclusive world for individuals on the spectrum.
š Make 2020 the Year of Kindness
Organizations like Autism SpeaksĀ are encouraging us all to āBe Kindāāthe theme of their 2020 campaign. They invite people everywhere to lead by example and spread positivity and acceptance.
